40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
CLIENT
Pak'n'Save (58 stores nationwide)
PROJECT
Produce a range of promotional carry bags to be sold in store
WHAT WE DID
Produced and delivered three unique branded bags
OPPORTUNITY
To mark its 40th anniversary in July and August 2025, this iconic New Zealand grocery chain launched ‘Super Birthday Deals’ featuring a special range of branded celebratory merchandise. Novelli was chosen to create custom reusable shopping bags for this milestone event.
INSIGHTS & DATA
To deliver on this project, we focused on what matters most to Pak'n'Save shoppers: no-nonsense value, everyday convenience, and tough products that handle big grocery hauls. The bags were designed to be strong and practical, with the distinctive Stickman branding featured front and centre.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Novelli partnered with Pak'n'Save to create a set of three reusable bags, each available in-store for less than $5.



OUTCOME
This range of celebratory merch (released late July 2025) is sparking a positive buzz online with praise for both the thoughtful product selection and the creative, on-brand design has drawn special praise. The collection has not only captured attention but also deepened the connection between the brand and its loyal shoppers, turning everyday essentials into memorable keepsakes.




'HERE'S TO A HUNDY'

OPPORTUNITY
Four Square has a proud history of celebrating it's birthday each year on the 4th July. With 2024 being the 100th birthday of this iconic New Zealand grocery chain, they wanted to do something extra special. Novelli was tasked with creating a range of quality branded merchandise which would pay homage to Four Square's history, but also looks to the future.
INSIGHTS & DATA
When Kiwi's think about Four Square, the common theme is 'convenience'. These local grocery stores are the places you go when you realise you've forgotten the essentials for the BBQ, are on a road trip or just need a few things to top up the kitchen cupboards. Novelli, therefore, researched what items would support this brand positioning.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Novelli collaborated with Four Square on a range of products which would capture the spirit of this iconic New Zealand supermarket by focusing on useful, convenience items with retail prices ranging from NZ$6.99 to $24.99

OUTCOME
This celebratory campaign generated a lot of positive publicity, and the range of branded merchandise generated good sales and positive social media responses. General feedback was that these useful, quality, colourful items are likely to stay in people's houses for years to come – maximising brand exposure for this iconic brand.


REUSABLE SHOPPING BAGS

PROJECT
Find an alternative to single-use plastic bags which can be retailed in store
WHAT WE DID
Developed a range of designer reusable jute bags
OPPORTUNITY
With the successful movement to ban single-use plastic bags in NZ, Woolworths needed a reliable and consistent supply of reusable shopping bags for selling in-store.
OUR SOLUTION
Novelli commissioned NZ artist Greg Strait to design the artwork for the bags. His eye-catching and creative designs, along with the quality and hardwearing materials used in the bag production, proved a successful combination.
Novelli were one of 14 suppliers included in this procurement exercise and, ultimately, were selected to be included on their panel of suppliers. When Novelli presented to the Woolworths NZ procurement team, one comment was that we were the only suppliers who had offered something different.

OUTCOMES
Through unique and creative designs, Novelli has enabled Woolworths to sell through good numbers of reusable bags, whilst maintaining their retail price point. The bags have been popular, collectable and have helped tremendously in Woolworth's move away from single use plastic bags.
We have now developed a number of designs and ranges for Woolworths to support their reusable shopping bag offering including the ones below -
