Novelli have been producing branded merchandise for Bunnings Trade staff and customers for many years. From our hugely popular hoodies, to Junior Tradies clothing and even pet accessories, we have helped Bunnings build loyalty and brand love amongst this vital customer base.

NOVELLI'S 'MERCH TINDER'
A key to our success working with Bunnings Trade is our in-depth understanding of what this customer base wants from their merchandise. Novelli can gather useful data in a unique survey format we created, nicknamed 'Merch Tinder' by the tradies.
Thousands of consumers can be surveyed with our simple swipe-left or right questionnaires. We have used this survey at various Bunnings "Pro" events and stores to get feedback on merch options (pictured right).
The data collected clearly identifies the most popular items, and also provides invaluable feedback on items directly from the consumer.
Our popular flannel shirt is an example of an item that we designed in direct response to high positive feedback from tradies.

OPPORTUNITY
At a time when the importance of mental health and well-being has never been more crucial, Bunnings was looking for a way to support it's partnership with MATES in Construction. Bunnings objectives were to promote this partnership, drive awareness for this mental health cause and raise funds to support MATES services. Novelli was approached for ideas for a new co-branded product which could be sold as a fundraising tool.

INSIGHTS & DATA
Bunnings staff and tradies had already showed their love for the green Bunnings Trade hoodie produced by Novelli. So, when it came to producing a product to support this fundraising initiative, it made sense for Bunnings to capitalise on the popularity of these highly desirable pieces of apparel.
OUR SOLUTION
Novelli developed a new co-branded, limited–edition version of the popular Bunnings Trade hoodie.
The MATES x Bunnings Trade hoodie release became part of a wider, integrated marketing campaign centred around a free trade BBQ breakfast event. The hoodies became available to purchase at the same time as the event. This breakfast was organised by Bunnings Trade and held across all stores in Australia. Guest speakers at the event emphasised the importance of mental health in the industry and encouraged individuals to 'check in on a mate'.

OUTCOMES
Even before the breakfast event, there was considerable advertising and hype around the release of the hoodies which created a sense of urgency and FOMO. No one wanted to miss out on the hoodies!
What happened when they went on sale? They sold out within a day!
The MATES X Bunnings Trade Hoodie campaign exemplified the power of leveraging a popular product to drive meaningful social impact. By partnering with MATES In Construction and utilising the hoodie as a focal point, Bunnings raised over $500,000 - a remarkable amount to support MATES In Construction's mental health programs and initiatives. This substantial contribution significantly surpassed expectations.
OPPORTUNITY
Drive attendance at Bunnings "Pro" Breakfast events with an exclusive, desirable merchandise item.
INSIGHTS & DATA
Novelli surveyed thousands of consumers at various Bunnings "Pro" events and stores to get feedback on which merch options they preferred. Our unique 'merch tinder' survey involved a simple swipe-left or swipe-right questionnaire.
The data collected identified a desire for a warm, comfy, long-sleeved shirt - and from there, Novelli designed the popular flannel shirt.
OUR SOLUTION
We developed a Shepard Flannelette Work Shirt which triggered a massive turnout of thousands of customers in the first 20 minutes.

Bunnings Warehouse is an Australian household hardware and garden centre chain and has stores in Australia and New Zealand. It is a major supplier to project builders, commercial tradespeople and the housing industry.
As of 2022, the chain has 282 large warehouse stores, 67 smaller format stores, and 32 trade centres and frame & truss sites. The company employs over 53,000 employees.
