BUILDING A GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP WITH A FRESH APPROACH
Global sports nutrition company Glanbia Performance Nutrition (Oceania region) had been a client of Novelli's for many years. We had developed bespoke, quality branded merchandise and clothing ranges for many of their brands including O.N. (Optimum Nutrition), Isopure, Nutramino and BSN.
When their Headquarters in Chicago were frustrated with their current global merchandising situation, we responded to their RFP.
OPPORTUNITY
Glanbia wanted to consolidate by having a sole preferred vendor - including a full logistics package to coordinate global distribution and stock management.
The management team in the US had heard about what Novelli were successfully achieving in Australia and considered that best practice. Could Novelli help with their global business model?
INSIGHTS AND DATA
Novelli already had an understanding of the Glanbia business, the different brand offerings and target customers and we had effective processes in place in the Oceania market. Nevertheless, meticulous research and stakeholder engagement informed our strategy to ensure we understood the global market.
To develop the product ranges, we took inspiration from trending items across sportswear and athleisure brands globally and leveraged our innovation and manufacturing expertise.
The key frustrations we identified that we needed to address were:
- Regions managing their own merchandise, leading to brand variations and quality inconsistency,
- Increased costs from regions looking after their own merchandise ranges,
- Disjointed logistics & distribution models
OUR SOLUTION
Novelli submitted a clear outline of our business model, and how we were best suited to service Glanbia's global account and manage distribution to all regions. We also presented our strategy including -

With our vast experience, particularly in apparel, we were able to ensure a budget-friendly, high quality range suitable for activewear and reflective of Glanbia's quality standards.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE
We understood each of the Glanbia brands, their positioning and end users needs. We also had the expertise in the apparel industry to ensure we were presenting on-trend styles.
CONSISTENCY
We had a plan for how to ensure consistency in terms of the merch we would develop and also how it was to be used.
PRODUCT OFFERING
We developed a range suited to the different requirements of each brand. This included different tiers of offerings to meet the needs of each group eg. influencers, gym users or giveaways.
OUTCOME
Out of twenty companies selected for the RFP process, Novelli was one of four companies chosen to present to a panel of key GPN marketing and procurement personnel.
We punched well above our weight on a global scale to be awarded as GPN’s global supplier of choice for all custom apparel and merchandise. This included technical product development and global distribution through online webstores.
Glanbia’s global range drove brand equity, achieving a large cost reduction through consolidation and volume increase, reinforcing market position and strategic prowess.
